Hi everyone!! It's been quite a while since our last DevLog here. We hope you're all doing well and finding little reasons to smile 💛

Today's post isn't as cheerful as we'd like it to be... but it's a necessary one. It's time to clarify the future of Colorful MIRAI — a project that's incredibly special to us, and we know, to many of you as well.

So let's talk a little bit, shall we?

As you might remember, it's been over three years since our last update. Back in August 2022, we shared changes we were making to the sprites, backgrounds, and the overall art direction of the game.  

Wow, it's really been a while. Thinking back on it makes me feel a little nostalgic... Honey Bunny was just getting started back then. We had no idea what we were doing, lol we just wanted to tell a heartfelt story that came from a very difficult time for both me and Alex.

Still, Colorful MIRAI was our dream. And we wanted to make it real, no matter what.  

We even made DLCs, expanded the characters, laughed, and dreamed alongside you. But with time, we realized we needed to stop and reevaluate everything from the structure of the story and the characters, to the technical challenges that go way beyond just “wanting to create something.”

That's when we understood: the project was much bigger than we thought.  

The depth of the narrative and the emotions involved require time, care, and a larger team.  

We want Colorful MIRAI to be something truly magnificent. But to achieve that, we need more help with music, script editing, additional art, feedback, technical support...  

And all of that takes resources we simply don't have at the moment. Resources like money.

That's why we've made the very difficult decision to put the project on hold for an indefinite time.

This wasn't easy to decide. And putting it into words here, officially, is painful.  

After all, Honey Bunny wouldn't exist without Colorful MIRAI. Shelving this dream feels like leaving a part of ourselves behind.

But you deserved an answer.  

And more than anything, Colorful MIRAI deserves respect. You deserve respect. And so do we.

Does this mean the game will never happen? No.  

It just means that we'll only come back to it when we're truly ready, with the structure, resources, and energy needed to make this story everything it's meant to be.

Lauren and the whole gang are still here, alive in our hearts. But it's going to take a bit longer until you get to know their full story.

We hope you understand.  

This pause is painful, but it's also an act of love for this project, for you, and ourselves.
